PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE (PAD)
AND LIMB SALVAGE
Here at Beverly Hills Vein and Cardiovascular Institute, we perform a thorough evaluation of the arteries to identify a wide range of potential problems, including PAD.
Early Symptoms of PAD May Include:
- Leg pain
- Intermittent leg cramping (claudication)
- Cold legs or feet
- Skin discoloration of the legs, ankles, or toes
- Non-healing sore and ulcers of the legs or feet
- Preventative Care & Limb Salvage
First, we treat PAD with lifestyle changes. We can help you quit smoking, exercise on a regular basis, and maintain a healthy diet. Next, we work together to establish a plan of care that will lead to pain reduction, prevent amputation in severe cases, and create a path to a better quality of life overall. Treatment for PAD can include adding certain medications, laser treatments, atherectomy, ballooning, and stent placement. Even in patients with very advanced disease, our goal is limb salvage and the prevention of critical limb ischemia. We work as a team to prevent amputation and open the arteries of the leg or foot.
